The Danish Royal Family celebrates Queen Margrethe's Golden Jubilee
Today, Queen Margrethe is marking her Golden Jubilee, the 50th anniversary of her accession to the throne. Plenty of celebrations were planned this week but they had to be postponed to September because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The royal family is still marking the anniversary with limited events today.

Queen Margrethe and Crown Prince Frederik first attended a council of state at Christiansborg Palace.
Afterward, Queen Margrethe, Crown Prince Frederik, Crown Princess Mary, Prince Joachim, Princess Marie, and Princess Benedikte attended an official celebration hosted by the Parliament at Christianborg Palace.
The royal family signed the guest book before the start of the celebration.
The royal family then traveled by train to Roskilde for the second part of the celebrations at Roskilde Cathedral.
They took part in a wreath-laying ceremony at Frederik IX and Queen Ingrid’s grave, Queen Margrethe’s parents, as the day also marks 50 years since Frederik IX passed away.
Queen Anne-Marie of Greece was supposed to attend the event but as King Constantine had COVID this week, she couldn’t travel back to Denmark. A wreath was laid on her behalf alongside her sisters’ wreaths. Wreaths for the Crown Prince couple and Prince Joachim and Princess Marie were also laid.
Later in the day, Queen Margrethe received representatives from the Ladies and Gentlemen of the Court at Amalienborg Palace. The marshal of the Court gave, as is the tradition on the Queen's birthday, a speech on behalf of all the Ladies and Gentlemen of the Court. Not all of them could attend the reception because of the pandemic.
In the evening, Queen Margrethe was surprised with a private dinner by her sister, her sons, her daughters-in-law, and her grandchildren.

Queen Margrethe wore a repeated outfit with her Marc Jacobs bag and her Mathilde Førster hat.
Crown Princess Mary wore her Oscar de la Renta cape with a new Gabriela Hearst dress. She wore a white blouse underneath the dress and she added a camel cardigan for the wreath-laying ceremony. She paired the outfit with her Jane Taylor hat, her Prada pumps, and her Naledi Copenhagen clutch. While leaving the Roskilde train station, she was carrying her Prada tote bag.
Princess Marie wore a new Max Mara coat with a new Gerard Darel dress. She paired the outfit with her Jimmy Choo black pumps and her Bottega Veneta mint green clutch. She also wore a new black hat that could be from Mademoiselle Chapeaux - a Parisian brand.
Princess Benedikte wore a Wichmann Couture purple and fuchsia outfit with a Grethe Borg hat and her Launer bag. She also wore a Dior watch.
In the evening, Queen Margrethe wore a black lace gown while Princess Benedikte wore her Wichmann Couture green gown.

Crown Princess Mary wore a new outfit while Princess Isabella and Princess Josephine wore navy dresses. Princess Isabella wore her mother’s Dulong earrings.
Prince Vincent wore a Ralph Lauren bow tie and shirt while Princess Josephine wore a Lasse Spangenberg dress.
Princess Marie wore a new Elie Saab gown with repeated earrings and her Rolex watch.
Princess Athena wore a Bonpoint dress with Jacadi shoes. It seems she also wore her mother’s Christine Hvelplund necklace.
