Regal Review: The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's 2017 Germany Visit - Day 1
On 19 July 2017, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge continued their official visit to Poland and Germany.
Before departing Poland, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge met with the Polish President and the First Lady again at the Presidential Palace. Then, they went to Warsaw’s airport to travel from Poland to Germany.
The couple and their children touched down in Berlin, Germany after a short flight.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s first official engagement in Germany was a private meeting and lunch with the German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Afterward, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge went to the Brandenburg Gate where they posed for official photos.
Then, it was time for a short walkabout on the Pariser Platz as the royal couple greeted the crowd waiting for them in front of the Gate.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also visited the Holocaust Memorial and the Field of Stelae which represents the enormity of the Holocaust through the 2711 concrete blocks it contains. At the Museum, the couple also met with Holocaust survivor Leon Henry Schwarzbaum.
William and Catherine then visited the Strassenkinder charity which aims to support young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The royal couple also met with the President of Germany and the First Lady at Bellevue Palace.
In the evening, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the Queen's Birthday Party at the Ambassador's residence in Berlin.
For the day events, The Duchess of Cambridge wore a cornflower blue Catherine Walker coat with a matching dress, a blue Jimmy Choo clutch, and Gianvito Rossi pumps. She also wore Kiki McDonough blue topaz jewels.
Prince George wore a grey striped shirt with navy shorts and his Vaello navy belt.
Princess Charlotte wore a blue flower printed dress with her Dona Carmen blue shoes.
In the evening, The Duchess of Cambridge wore a red off-the-shoulder dress by Alexander McQueen. She also wore beige Prada sandals and Simone Rocha red beaded drop earrings.
