Qatari State Visit to the United Kingdom - Day 1
On Tuesday, the Emir and Sheikha Jawaher of Qatar started a two-day state visit to the United Kingdom.
They were officially welcomed by the Prince and Princess of Wales on behalf of King Charles at their hotel.
Afterward, the Prince and Princess of Wales and the Emir and Sheikha Jawaher traveled to the Horse Guards Parade where they attended the official welcome ceremony with the King and the Queen.
They then took part in a carriage procession along the Mall to Buckingham Palace where the King and the Queen hosted a private lunch.
Afterward, the King and Queen and the Emir and Sheikha Jawaher viewed an exhibition in the Buckingham Palace Picture Gallery of items relating to Qatar. The Prince and Princess of Wales as well as the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh attended among others members of the Royal Family.
In the evening, the King and Queen hosted a state banquet for the Emir and Sheikha Jawaher.
In his speech, King Charles said: “As we reflect on the breadth and depth of our relationship, it is clear that the ties between Qatar and the United Kingdom are profound, personal and historic. They are built on years of collaboration, mutual respect and a shared commitment to peace and prosperity. I am filled with optimism about the possibilities that lie ahead for our two great nations. Whatever new challenges and opportunities emerge, I am confident that we will meet them together.”
The Princess of Wales first wore an Alexander McQueen coat with Gianvito Rossi boots (with thanks to Christine) and her Chanel bag. She also repeated her Sahar Millinery burgundy hat.
For the lunch, the Princess of Wales changed into her Eponine London dress with her Gianvito Rossi pumps and her Sahar Millinery hat.
The Duchess of Edinburgh first wore a Giorgio Armani dress with Jimmy Choo pumps and her Giulia Barela earrings.
In the evening, the Duchess of Edinburgh wore a Suzannah gown with her LK Bennett pumps. She wore her Aquamarine Tiara.
