Queen Mary inaugurates Countess Danner memorial

On Monday, Queen Mary inaugurated a monument in honor of Countess Danner in Copenhagen. Louise Rasmussen was a ballet dancer and stage actor who became the spouse of King Frederick VII and was titled Countess Danner. She used her wealth to help vulnerable women and children from her marriage in 1850 to her death in 1874, and among other things, founded the Dannerhuset which houses women and children

In her speech, Queen Mary said:” On the whole, she never forgot her origins. She distributed money to the poor, invited the townspeople to Jægerspris Castle, and later established an orphanage in the same place. She fought for those who had the least and had this beautiful building erected as a home for poor lady carpenters. Countess Danner died in 1874, and the following year, in 1875, Dannerhuset was completed. So she never saw the final result, but had undoubtedly been proud of everything the building has housed since.”

Queen Mary wore her Prada coat with her Jesper Høvring blouse and her Skall Studio trousers. She paired the outfit with her Prada ankle boots and her Anya Hindmarch bag. She also wore Dulong Fine Jewelry earrings and her Gucci glasses.
