Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit visit Berlin
On Thursday, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit were in Berlin to mark the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
They attended a commemorative event at the Berlin Wall memorial in Bernauer Strasse. Crown Princess Mette-Marit made a speech in which she said: “With a sense of disbelief and collective victory we watched the images of people dancing on top of the wall – this number one symbol of oppression and separation. We will never forget the TV footage of thousands of people streaming across the border between what until then had been two separate worlds. People laughed, cried, and hugged each other. There were strong feelings. And we, young people in Norway – and around the world – shared these feelings and this profound moment in history with them, with you. Freedom had triumphed, democracy had triumphed. We felt a strong sense of hope, of optimism. That a better world was possible.”
Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit met with the Federal President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Bellevue Palace.
They also were received by Chancellor Olaf Scholz in the Federal Chancellery where they attended a meeting with several Ministers.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit first wore her Max Mara coat with her Fendi jacket and navy trousers. She was also carrying her Loewe and Aspinal of London clutches. She paired the outfit with Pomellato earrings and her Cartier ring.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit then wore her CO coat with her Manolo Blahnik pumps, her Aspinal of London clutch, her Cartier ring, and her Pomellato earrings.
