Dutch State Visit to South Africa - Day 1

On Wednesday, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima started a three-day State Visit to South Africa. In the morning, the Royal Couple landed at Waterkloof military airport in Pretoria.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima then visited Blesbokspruit Wetland Reserve to learn more about the challenges South Africa faces in the field of water quality and availability. They also heard about two Dutch-South African partnerships in the water sector, the Blue Deal and Wetskills.

Afterward, they toured the Apartheid Museum where they met with judges, activists, and artists to discuss the importance of legal equality and access to justice, with special attention to the protection of LGBTIQ+ and women's rights.

In the afternoon, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima posed between the Jacaranda trees Pretoria is famous for.

They then attended meetings at the Innovation Village where they met the participants of the economic mission that focuses on strengthening partnerships between South Africa and the Netherlands.

They also met with representatives of training institutions, employers, entrepreneurs, and students to discuss the high youth unemployment in South Africa and the shortage of well-trained professionals.

In the evening, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima hosted a reception for the Dutch community living in South Africa.

Queen Maxima first wore her Jan Taminiau dress with her Fabienne Delvigne hat, her Natan pumps, and her Banana Republic clutch. Later in the day, she changed into her Salvatore Ferragamo flats and wore her Tom Ford sunglasses.

Queen Maxima then wore her Zeus + Dione dress with her Gianvito Rossi pumps.
