Crown Princess Mary lays the foundation stone for "Mary Elizabeths Hospital"

Today, Crown Princess Mary laid the foundation stone for the “Mary Elizabeths Hospital - The Kingdom for children, young people, and pregnant women” in Copenhagen. The event was supposed to be held earlier this year to mark her 50th birthday but had to be postponed because of the pandemic.

The new hospital will open in 2026 and will have 179 single rooms, 87 outpatient rooms, and 13 operating rooms to welcome children, young people, and pregnant women.

In her speech, Crown Princess Mary said: “Today we lay the foundation stone for a new pioneering hospital. A hospital for children, young people, pregnant women, and their families. Where treatment, safety, well-being, and motivation go hand-in-hand. A hospital with an ambition to offer treatment at the highest international level A hospital with humans in the center, where life must be lived - even when you are affected by a serious illness.”

The text of her speech, a wooden stethoscope, a red LEGO heart, and a crocheted comfort mouse for hospitalized children, among other items, were placed in a time capsule before Crown Princess Mary laid the foundation stone.

Crown Princess Mary wore her KITX coat with her Gianvito Rossi pumps and a repeated clutch. She paired the outfit with a Susanne Juul hat as well as Cartier, Rebekka Notkin, and Dulong jewels.
