The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visit the Bahamas - Day 2
On Friday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge spent their first full day in the Bahamas as part of their Caribbean Jubilee Tour.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge first visited the Sybil Strachan Primary School in Nassau where they took part in a school assembly with other schools joining virtually.
In her speech, the Duchess of Cambridge said: “I always think it is the simple things in life that bring us the most joy: Playing together, chatting to your friends at school, eating meals together, and listening to each other's stories. These are the things that bring us together and give meaning to our lives. The connections, the relationships, and the friendships that you make during school are so special. So please look after them, cherish them, and take time for them. And remember to be kind, understanding, and loving to yourself and others.”
Afterward, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge went to the Garden of Remembrance where they met with frontline healthcare workers to acknowledge their efforts during the pandemic.
The couple then attended a cultural event titled “A Taste of the Bahamas” on Parliament Square with an amazing Junkanoo parade.
In the afternoon, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took part in a regatta marking the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The couple each lead a team and Prince William’s team ended up winning.
In the evening, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended a reception hosted by the Governor-General at Baha Mar Beach Resort.
In a speech, Prince William said: “ Next year, I know you are all looking forward to celebrating 50 years of independence - your Golden Anniversary. And with Jamaica celebrating 60 years of independence this year, and Belize celebrating 40 years of independence last year, I want to say this: We support with pride and respect your decisions about your future. Relationships evolve. Friendship endures.”
The reception featured performances by the Bahamas National Youth Choir and guests included dignitaries such as the Prime Minister and his wife and well-known Bahamian personalities such as Sienna Evans, Miss Bahamas World 2021.
For the first events of the day, the Duchess of Cambridge wore a new Self-Portrait dress (with thanks to Middleton Maven) with her Jimmy Choo pumps. She also wore new earrings by Bahamian designer Nadia Irena (with thanks to Christine) and her Amaia face mask.
For the regatta, the Duchess of Cambridge wore a new Decathlon jacket (with thanks to Middleton Maven), with a Gill Marine top (with thanks to @LadyParky79) and new shorts. She also wore her Superga trainers and her Spells of Love earrings.
In the evening, the Duchess of Cambridge wore a new gown by Philippa Lepley with new Gianvito Rossi pumps. Her new clutch is by Lulu Guinness (with thanks to Middleton Maven & @LadyParky79). She paired the outfit with her Van Cleef & Arpels earrings & necklace.
