Norwegian Crown Prince Couple's official visit to Viken County - Day 1

Today, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit started their annual county visit. This year’s visit takes place in Viken County and will last three days.

The couple spent their first day in Indre Østfold where Crown Prince Haakon walked part of the Refugee Route where people fled across the border to Sweden during World War II.

Afterward, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit visited the Trøgstadheimen residential and service center.

The Crown Prince couple then visited Høytorp fort where they met school children and watched performances by artist and poet Trygve Skaug and the city’s culture school.

The couple also had the opportunity to taste several foods and meet with several of the city’s associations.

Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit also visited the Mortenstua school for children with learning difficulties where they toured several classrooms and talked with students, staff, and volunteers.

Crown Prince Haakon ended the day solo as he visited Askim Fruit and Berry Press as today is National Apple Day in Norway. Crown Prince Haakon brought apples from Skaugum that will be turned into apple juice by the Press.
