Today, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima made a regional visit to the southern part of Salland.

The royal couple started their visit in the former Hanseatic city of Deventer where they walked through the Havenkwartier to meet entrepreneurs to hear about how they are contributing to the development of the city.

Then, they visited the Royal Auping Factory to learn about their sustainable production. As 1.5 million mattresses are discarded every year, the company contributes to reducing the waste problem through innovation, sustainability, and reuse of materials.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima then went to Heeten to learn more about the citizens’ initiative to create a citizen budget in which they help determine where and how municipal money is spent within their own environment.

In Olst-Wijhe, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima visited the IJsselhoeve De Riet dairy farm which is working on sustainability, among other things, by using herb meadows to replace artificial fertilizers.

The royal couple then visited the De Haere Estate of the IJssel landscape Foundation which manages and develops land, estates, farms, and houses around Deventer. They also work on green sustainability and organize activities for the elderly, people who need specific care, and refugees.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima concluded their visit by stopping at the outdoor exhibition of the IJsselbiennale. The exhibition is a 120-kilometer long art route along the IJssel River, which focuses on the impact of climate change on the landscape of the IJssel valley.

Queen Maxima wore a new Natan Couture green floral pleated dress with her Gianvito Rossi burgundy pumps and Natan clutch. She paired the outfit with a Fabienne Delvigne hat and Dinh Van bracelet.
