Crown Princess Victoria attends Raoul Wallenberg Prize Ceremony

Today, Crown Princess Victoria marked Raoul Wallenberg Day as she attended the Raoul Wallenberg Prize Ceremony in Stockholm. Raoul Wallenberg was a Swedish businessman and diplomat who is known worldwide for his successful efforts to save Jews in Nazi-occupied Hungary from the Holocaust during World War II.

During the ceremony, the Raoul Wallenberg Prize was awarded as well as the Young Courage award and an honorary prize to mark the 20th anniversary of the Raoul Wallenberg Academy which was founded by Wallenberg’s sister.

In her speech, Crown Princess Victoria said to the winners of the Young Courage awards: “Dear young laureates: each one of you has, in various ways, demonstrated the power of action - small and large. You have shown that just like Raoul Wallenberg, you, your commitment, and your moral courage can make a real difference. And by doing that, you give me - and all of us - a reason to feel hope.”
