King Felipe and Queen Letizia opens Memorial Center for the Victims of Terrorism in Vitoria
Today, King Felipe and Queen Letizia presided over the inauguration ceremony of the Memorial Center for the Victims of Terrorism in Vitoria. King Felipe is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Memorial.
The couple first unveiled a commemorative plaque of their visit before visiting the permanent exhibition of the Memorial Center. During their visit, they also met with representatives of the Foundation Center for the Memory of the Victims of Terrorism.
Afterward, King Felipe and Queen Letizia attended the official inauguration ceremony which began with a minute of silence. The President of the Victims of Terrorism Foundation made a speech as well as King Felipe. The King said: “Preserving the memory of the victims is, therefore, an exercise of respect and justice […] an essential element so that future generations are always aware of the seriousness of what happened, of the pain that terrorism provokes for the whole society and its victims in particular, and the permanent obligation that every society and every State has to combat it.”
Queen Letizia wore a new midi dress by Leyre Doueil (with thanks to Nuria) with her Carolina Herrera black suede pumps and her Hugo Boss black bag. She also wore her Karen Hallam gold ring.
