Dutch State Visit to Norway - Day 3
Today, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima spent their last day in Norway as they concluded their three-day state visit to the country.
This last day took part in Trondheim and they were joined by Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit. They first visited the Powerhouse Brattørkaia, an 'energy plus' building that generates more solar energy over its lifespan than the construction, operation, and demolition cost combined. They also visited the Norwegian Center for Plankton Technology where seaweed cultivation is researched.
King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima, Crown Prince Haakon, and Crown Princess Mette-Marit then visited NTNU's research vessel FF Gunnerus and Maritime Robotics where they met students and researchers from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology to discuss maritime developments and the work of marine equipment.
The Royal couple and the Crown Prince couple then attended an official lunch hosted by the Mayor of Trondheim at Stiftsgården.
In a speech, Crown Princess Mette-Marit said: “The Crown Prince and I are very pleased to welcome you back here to Trondheim and Stiftsgården. I know you both have fond – and possibly a bit warmer – memories of the last time you were here. On this third day of Your Majesties’ state visit to Norway, we are proud to introduce you once again to this important city – both a historic place and a key hub for our common future.”
In the afternoon, King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima, and Crown Prince Haakon went to the Norwegian University of Science and Technology Campus to attend a panel discussion on the North Sea as a platform for energy transition and energy conversion. During the visit, they also had the opportunity to discover some of the student studies on new sustainable forms of energy.
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima’s state visit to Norway ended at Nidaros Cathedral where they were joined by Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit. After a short tour of the Cathedral, which is where Norwegian’s monarchs are inaugurated, they attended a concert by Sami performers at the Sami altar.
Queen Maxima wore her Valentino cape over her Claes Iversen coat. She paired the outfit with her Gianvito Rossi pumps and Wandler bag.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit wore her Christian Dior navy sleeveless coat dress over a new Giambattista Valli white pussy bow dress. She paired the outfit with her Christian Louboutin nude pumps and her Aspinal of London clutch.
