Welcome to this week’s Royal Recap where we’ll take a look at the events we weren’t able to cover fully this week!

Let’s start with Queen Maxima who - in addition to attending several digital events on Tuesday and making several working visits on Wednesday - made several video calls this week. On Monday, she met with social workers, experts, and participants of the MIND Blue Monday Run to talk about depression and the influence of the coronavirus outbreak on the mental health of young people.

On Thursday, Queen Maxima concluded her digital working visit to Senegal as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance with meetings with the President of Senegal Macky Sall, Minister for Microfinance and the Solidarity-Based Economy Zahra Iyane Thiam, and the Governor of the Central Bank of West African States Tiémoko Meyliet Koné.

Then, she attended the webinar: 'Together we are strong for a debt-care-free entrepreneurial Netherlands' to discuss the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on small companies. She wore a Natan dress.

On Tuesday, Queen Mathilde visited Handicap International Belgium to attend a roundtable on the vision and future projects of the association.

On Thursday, Queen Mathilde attended a digital meeting with members of #TeachforBelgium which is a non-profit organization aiming to reduce educational inequalities by training young graduates and professionals to become inspiring teachers for students in the most disadvantaged schools.

On Friday, Queen Mathilde attended a digital meeting with teachers from Brussels, Wallonia and Flanders to discuss the impact of COVID on the school curriculum, distance learning and the introduction of innovative teaching methods.

On Tuesday, Crown Princess Mary attended - as a member of UNFPA's High-Level Commission on ICPD25 - a virtual meeting with the Commission. In her speech, Crown Princess Mary said: “For example, 25 million unsafe abortions are performed worldwide each year, and due to COVID-19, another three million women are expected to have an unsafe abortion this year. And the rise in gender-based violence is also worrying - we heard that the rise in some places was up to 40 percent ... There is a lot that needs to be done to create a better world. "
