Regal Review: Queen Margrethe's 75th Birthday Celebrations - Balcony & City Hall Reception
Queen Margrethe celebrates her 80th birthday today! Happy Birthday!! Since the celebrations planned this year were canceled, let’s keep taking a look at the celebrations that took place to celebrate her 75th birthday in 2015. In the morning, the Danish royal family and all the royal guests staying at Fredensborg Castle went outside to wake up the Queen and celebrate her! Afterward, King Felipe, Queen Mathilde, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima traveled back home as they would not take part in the rest of the day’s festivities.
Crown Princess Mary wore her Joseph knit cape with a purple knit top and her Gianvito Rossi ankle boots.
Queen Maxima wore her red Natan coat, a Valentino clutch and her Monies statement earrings.
At noon, Queen Margrethe appeared on the balcony to greet the crowd who was waiting to celebrate her. She was joined by her family.
King Harald, Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, King Carl Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel also appeared on the balconies to celebrate Queen Margrethe.
Afterward, all the guests traveled to Copenhagen’s City Hall white the Queen, Crown Prince Frederik, and Crown Princess Mary traveled there in a carriage.
They attended an official reception and a lunch offered by the city to celebrate the Queen.
The Queen also appeared on the City Hall’s balcony to greet the crowd before departing with her guests. In the evening, she hosted a second gala dinner at Fredensborg Castle which we will cover later today!
Now, onto the fashion! Queen Margrethe wore a beautiful teal suit with a matching coat and matching hat and her Daisy brooch!
Crown Princess Mary wore her Oscar de la Renta navy embellished coat with a matching dress underneath. She paired the coat with her Hugo Boss grey clutch, a matching Jane Taylor grey hat and Gianvito Rossi grey suede pumps.
Princess Marie wore her Emporio Armani green coat with a white printed dress underneath. She wore a black headband with ruffles, her Bottega Veneta clutch and Jimmy Choo Mitchel pumps. She also wore a stunning brooch and new earrings.
Princess Benedikte wore a pink coat with a matching pleated dress underneath. She also wore a pink hat with feathers at the back and her LK Bennett bag.
Queen Anne-Marie wore grey dress with a matching coat, a brown feathered hat and a bag by Anya Hindmarch.
Queen Silvia wore a stunning purple suit with a matching Philip Treacy fascinator. She paired the suit with a matching cape, and black pumps and bag.
Crown Princess Victoria wore her Chanel white dress with a By Malene Birger white coat. She accessorized with her Chanel quilted clutch and Tabitha Simmons pumps.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit wore the Danish colors as she paired her Alexander McQueen white coat with a red dress underneath. She continued the theme by carrying her white Valentino minaudière and she wore her gold Prada headband with a red ribbon. She wore her Gianvito Rossi nude pumps, her Madiya Farooqi ear cuff and skull earrings.
