On 25th August 2010, Prince Nikolaos of Greece and Denmark married Venezuelan Tatiana Blatnik at Cathedral of Ayios Nikolaos in Spetses, Greece.
Tatiana, who became the daughter in law of the deposed Greek king, wore a design by Angel Sanchez; an American designer born in the bride's native Venezuelan. Many people had expected her to wear a dress by her former employer, Diane Von Furstenberg, but the new princess chose to surprise us.
The gown is strapless with a moulded bodice and is made from 40 meters of French chantilly lace. She wore a lace bolero which she would remove for the evening element of the day.
Tatiana wore a family heirloom as her headpiece, choosing the antique corsage tiara. According to Order of Splendor, it was created by Queen Ingrid of Denmark from family brooches and was gifted to the last queen of Greece, Queen Anne-Marie, as an 18th birthday present.
The reception was held in a nearby property. Some of the most well known royals were included on the guest list, including Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, the King and Queen of the Netherlands and Greek born Queen Sofia of Spain. The lucky guests tucked in to a luxurious mood after the sun had set on the beautiful Greek island.
The wedding was particularly poignant for the Greek royal family. After the exile, they had not initially been allowed to return to Greece and Queen Anne Marie had not been allowed to enter for 8 years. To now be able to freely hold a family wedding in Greece- the first since the exile- showed how far they had come.
