Meghan Markle's engagement announcement outfit

When Kensington Palace finally announced the long-awaited news that Prince Harry was to wed American actress Meghan Markle, the newly engaged couple appeared for a short photocall in Diana's favorite garden at Kensington Palace.

For the big announcement, Meghan chose a dark green sleeveless dress by P.A.R.O.S.H. To cover up in the chilly weather, she wore a white coat by The Line which she tied around the waist. The future Duchess was also wearing a pair of nude Aquazzura heels.

She kept her jewellery simple with a pair of Les Plaisirs de Birks Yellow Gold and Opal earrings and her engagement ring designed by Harry.

And now, abut the ring!

The three diamonds are wrapped around a gold band (Harry said is Meghan's favorite), which was made by Cleave and Company. The center stone came from Botswana - a location important and special to both Harry and Meghan. The two smaller stones on each side were part of Diana, Princess of Wales's personal collection. Harry did this as a way to make sure Diana is there with them. Harry proposed to her at their cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace in early November while roasting chicken. Meghan was so excited she couldn't even let him finish asking the question.

Meghan is to give up acting and will be baptized and confirmed into the Church of England ahead of her wedding in May 2018 at St. George's Chapel at Windsor.

We wish the couple many happy years together!
